Tarot Deal Meditation Poem

When shuffling and dealing the tarot cards for myself I often find that I’m composing a poem in my head.  I find that it helps keep me grounded and focused, particularly when I’m about to do a reading that I’m anxious about.  It just really helps me to stay removed from my mundane thoughts about the question and slip into the meditative, intuitive side of my mind that can read the tarot spread without letting it get tangled up in my hopes and fears of what the spread will say.

Today’s tarot deal meditation poem ran thusly:

One for the ground that’s always around,

One for the air, that mysterious stair,

One for the water, as it whispers one another,

One for the fire as towards truth it spires,

And one for me upon this day-

Please bless my read of this array.

I also often find that the form my meditation poem took adds to the reading of the cards themselves.  That was the case today-my earth/pentacle card was a reminder that I already have all my resources.  My air/swords card spoke of inspiration and connection coming from my spiritual, higher sources.  My water/cups card spoke of a multitude of influences and directions.  My fire/wands card made clear a realization I had begun to suspect.  And the card representing me did indeed come as a token of blessing.

Does anyone else find that they use rhymes or other meditation techniques to aid with tarot reading for themselves without emotional tangles?

A Tea Song

I had been considering revisiting a Tea Song that I recently wrote, and today is perfect for three reasons:

1. First of December

2. First snowfall here.

3. Goddess Unchi-Ahchi is celebrated today.  She rules over tea, tea sets, and tea hearths, and is honored by enjoying her heat, drinking her drink, and sharing these things along with its uses to aid in meditation and spiritual things with close ones.    http://journeyingtothegoddess.wordpress.com/2012/12/01/goddess-unchi-ahchi/

As it is hard to share a drink of tea over the internet, I offer you my song.

“Tea Song”

The kettle is on,

About to sing its smoke-sweet song.

We’ll pour it in shares,

comforting to our cares,

As the aroma erases what’s wrong.

Set out the mugs!

It’s time to pour our liquid hugs,

And get out the honey,

the sugar, and milk

to stir into our drink deep.

There’s herbs and there’s spice

to make our world nice

As we sip from the magic we’ve steeped.

It’ll flow to our toes,

Curing as it knows,

And the warmth is for us to keep.

Set out the mugs!

It’s time to pour our liquid hugs,

And get out the honey,

the sugar, and milk

to stir into our drink deep.
