Keeping Up Faculties Rune

This rune is intended to prevent and aid with mental deterioration such as forgetfulness, dementia, etc.  It is also useful for strengthening and preventing loss of basic physical faculties such as vision, hearing, and basic energy.  Helps prevents accidents.

This rune includes (in white):

Os: This rune calls on the universe’s knowledge of this person’s essence and their place in the world to keep that person within their personality and within awareness of who and what surrounds them.

Stan: To draw the person to their personal cornerstone and keep them their own person when threatened by accident or illness.

Othala: To prevent personality-changing or significant physical-accident energies at bay and keep the person safely aware of themselves and who they are.

Ehwaz: To strengthen and guide the person’s spirit through its obstacles and keep it in touch with allies, real and spiritual.

Berkana: To nurture the person’s strength, spiritual and physical, and help them grow older in harmony with change, but without loss of essence.

Raidho: To enable quick reflexes, quick thinking, and quick protection against anything that would threaten significant deterioration, while still carrying that person safely down the path they are meant to follow.

Algiz: To protect, to prevent, and to lead in the right direction.

Tyr: To lead the person to an aware finish, protect from deterioration, and strengthen all natural abilities.

Eiwaz: To enhance health, keep the person’s strength where it will be of the most use, and keep damaging accidents or illness fluid enough that the person’s essential strength will be able to fight it.

This rune has a straight vertical line with no topper, like an antenna, to focus its energies on the person for whom you are making it.  To direct and focus the rune, write the person’s name (in runes or otherwise) across the top.  In my example, these are the yellow runes.

Surgery Bindrune

This bindrune is designed for protection during procedures where a physical alteration is intended-lasik and appendectomies, for example.  This rune will promote overall health and protect the rest of your body from unintended alterations.  It will also encourage acceptance and ease in adjusting to your body’s new state.  It will help prevent complications and quicken healing.  Note: this rune is designed for operations performed at a point where the body is not at a critical stage.  I do not recommend it for operations where someone is already in a life-threatening state.  That would require a stronger bind.

This bind includes:

Chalc-To invite the desired changes and cleanly, easily join those shifts to the rest of your body, making it easy to grow used to and full of positive energy to prevent complications and promote healing.

Algiz-To protect your body from risks and complications.

Berkana-To promote healing, nurture you during the process, and enable you to more easily adjust.

Eiwaz-To keep your body strong and prevent unwanted change.  To keep your healing process balanced and positive physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Dagaz-To fill those necessary physical changes with positive power and let it give you the most energy and life-quality.

Fehu-To refine the operation to the best materials and the best people qualified for the job.  To encourage your body to treat this only as a gain, in spite of having undergone an ordeal and possibly lost something.

Hagalaz-To make the process quick and clean, with no negative side effects.

Kennaz-To help the changed or new parts of your body join and work easily with the rest of it.

Ur-To help those performing the operation know exactly where to focus and where to cut, etc.  To focus the healing process on the parts that are most important without weakening the rest of your body in any way.

Othala-To protect you from anything negative and strengthen you physically, spiritually, and mentally to take charge and live as fully as you can in your new state.

Grief Bindrune

Grief Bindrune: To continue after loss, pain, and transition.

A windmill to cycle through all the pain and loss that might blow your way and transform it into healing energy.

Fehu: To help tie you to the earth with its strength, its calm, and its solidity.  To help keep your eyes on achievable goals, on the good luck that exists, and to encourage you to gain satisfaction from accomplishing the things you need to achieve.

Berkana: To help put all temporary gains and relief back into yourself, so each little instance will help to heal the wound and grow back into a strong and healthy part of your life.  To help nourish and care for you.

Nied: To help recognize your greatest needs, to be able to work with and alter them when you need, and to help your focus go where it is needed at the moment without overlooking what’s best for your recovery in the long-term.

Dagaz: To help new care and beauty nourish and move you beyond this loss, to help you notice and awaken to new and good things, and to help your focus shift to the future rather than carrying burdens any longer than you have to.

Tyr: To help the road forward appear clear before your feet.  To help you wish to care for yourself, to keep your external cares simple, direct, and clear.  To light your path to victory over this trial and lead you to happiness and acceptance of what has changed.

Ior: To help the new lines become comfortable, to help the changed world become home, and to encourage forgiveness.

Ac: To help you find what is left for you, to draw strength from the energy of change, and to set the past apart for a time when need be.

Os: To help acceptance and to provide a conduit to spirit allies and their support.

I hope this provides some help and support for the sufferers of the explosions in Boston on April 15th.

Sleep Bindrune

I know many people, including myself, who have trouble relaxing and falling asleep.  I have made several Sleep Bindrunes for this purpose.

These are the runes involved in my Turtle Sleep Bindrune, because when I put them together they remind me of the pattern on a turtle’s shell.  Others can, of course, put the following runes together in any manner they think best.

Turtle Sleep Bindrune

-Laguz will help you flow in tune with life’s rhythm, let your energies move where they need to go to help you in and out of rest when you need it, and help you remember to feel strong for taking care of yourself, and get truly well nurtured and refreshed from the rest that you take.

-Berkana’s here to remind you that all work goes in cycles, that all growth happens with nurturing, that sleep is a necessary and wonderful part of the circle.  It’s also here to help you use that sleep and renewal to your best advantage.

-Perthro is to help you stay calm and steady in the face of whatever your day is ending or your tomorrow is bringing.  It’ll help you let things go that need to end, hold onto things that need dealing with, and take the right kind of rest and refreshment that you need to deal with whatever newness might be meeting you in the morning.

-Isa’s here to keep you still, to keep you restful when you need it no matter how tempting it is to worry or do more.  It’s also here to remind you of how strong and secure you can be in stillness, and how enlightening rest can be.

-Gifu will remind you that, no matter what you’re doing, your friends and spirit allies are still strong and caring for you, even when you’re not aware of it.  It’s also here to help you remember that giving gifts is also something that you need to let yourself do for you.

-Eihwaz will keep you safe, stable, and secure while you are sleeping.  I like to know that you’re safe.

I recommend using blue for peace and healing.  Another useful color might be black, as it absorbs and negates negative energy.

If anyone else has thoughts or comments on sleep bindrunes or runes that they find calming in general, please feel free to share in the comments.
