Keeping Up Faculties Rune

This rune is intended to prevent and aid with mental deterioration such as forgetfulness, dementia, etc.  It is also useful for strengthening and preventing loss of basic physical faculties such as vision, hearing, and basic energy.  Helps prevents accidents.

This rune includes (in white):

Os: This rune calls on the universe’s knowledge of this person’s essence and their place in the world to keep that person within their personality and within awareness of who and what surrounds them.

Stan: To draw the person to their personal cornerstone and keep them their own person when threatened by accident or illness.

Othala: To prevent personality-changing or significant physical-accident energies at bay and keep the person safely aware of themselves and who they are.

Ehwaz: To strengthen and guide the person’s spirit through its obstacles and keep it in touch with allies, real and spiritual.

Berkana: To nurture the person’s strength, spiritual and physical, and help them grow older in harmony with change, but without loss of essence.

Raidho: To enable quick reflexes, quick thinking, and quick protection against anything that would threaten significant deterioration, while still carrying that person safely down the path they are meant to follow.

Algiz: To protect, to prevent, and to lead in the right direction.

Tyr: To lead the person to an aware finish, protect from deterioration, and strengthen all natural abilities.

Eiwaz: To enhance health, keep the person’s strength where it will be of the most use, and keep damaging accidents or illness fluid enough that the person’s essential strength will be able to fight it.

This rune has a straight vertical line with no topper, like an antenna, to focus its energies on the person for whom you are making it.  To direct and focus the rune, write the person’s name (in runes or otherwise) across the top.  In my example, these are the yellow runes.

Goddess Cerridwen Rune

In honor of Goddess Cerridwen (journeyingtothegoddess.wordpress.com/2012/07/03/goddess-cerridwen/), I have created a bindrune.  This rune will not only help one communicate with and honor the goddess, but should strengthen all of her aspects in life, inviting in inspiration, creativity, poetry, prosperity, the ability to transform and adapt, and the wisdom to face shadows and changes with the desire to chase down what you need.  Placing it in a special container when you wish for a particular aspect or communion with the goddess will be a sign of good faith, that you are stirring your intuitive and magical energies and are ready to face what happens when the goddess’s magic and messages manifest.

Cerridwenrune

The runes in this bindrune are the letters of Cerridwen’s name (with one ‘e’ Ehwaz and the other Eiwaz).

This rune is designed to emulate the wisdom and creativity potion Cerridwen created with her cauldron and intended for her son.  The up and down line in Nied is expanded on to act as the spoon which stirs the goddess’s magic labors.  I used the color yellow to simulate the grains and herbs Cerridwen is lady of and used in her potion.  I added a crow as this magical bird also belongs to Cerridwen as well as being a carrier of messages between us and our spirit allies.  All glory to the goddess!

I have also celebrated her today with eating grains and bacon.  Perhaps my favorite thing though, is that in the Disney picture-a-day calendar I have for the year, the picture that turned up on Cerridwen’s day is the magical cauldron from “Black Cauldron.”  So I am also staring at that and feeling pleasure in the small things the goddess can provide inspiration through.  Happy and inspirational shapeshifting days to you!

Surgery Bindrune

This bindrune is designed for protection during procedures where a physical alteration is intended-lasik and appendectomies, for example.  This rune will promote overall health and protect the rest of your body from unintended alterations.  It will also encourage acceptance and ease in adjusting to your body’s new state.  It will help prevent complications and quicken healing.  Note: this rune is designed for operations performed at a point where the body is not at a critical stage.  I do not recommend it for operations where someone is already in a life-threatening state.  That would require a stronger bind.

This bind includes:

Chalc-To invite the desired changes and cleanly, easily join those shifts to the rest of your body, making it easy to grow used to and full of positive energy to prevent complications and promote healing.

Algiz-To protect your body from risks and complications.

Berkana-To promote healing, nurture you during the process, and enable you to more easily adjust.

Eiwaz-To keep your body strong and prevent unwanted change.  To keep your healing process balanced and positive physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Dagaz-To fill those necessary physical changes with positive power and let it give you the most energy and life-quality.

Fehu-To refine the operation to the best materials and the best people qualified for the job.  To encourage your body to treat this only as a gain, in spite of having undergone an ordeal and possibly lost something.

Hagalaz-To make the process quick and clean, with no negative side effects.

Kennaz-To help the changed or new parts of your body join and work easily with the rest of it.

Ur-To help those performing the operation know exactly where to focus and where to cut, etc.  To focus the healing process on the parts that are most important without weakening the rest of your body in any way.

Othala-To protect you from anything negative and strengthen you physically, spiritually, and mentally to take charge and live as fully as you can in your new state.

Grief Bindrune: To continue after loss, pain, and transition.

Fehu: To help tie you to the earth with its strength, its calm, and its solidity.  To help keep your eyes on achievable goals, on the good luck that exists, and to encourage you to gain satisfaction from accomplishing the things you need to achieve.

I hope this provides some help and support for the sufferers of the explosions in Boston on April 15th.

Functioning Through Crisis Bindrune

This bindrune is to help people function normally and not drop their everyday lives or everyday tasks, even when they are going through a very intense time or suffering a kind of crisis.  It is therefore a temporary bindrune, but I have found it to be an effective and powerful one.

crisis bindrune

Ior: This rune of boundaries helps to hold the emotions or thoughts that are too intense inside, to embrace them in its circle so there will be a space, however small, outside of those thoughts where you will be able to move and act.  It will not help those who wish to avoid these deep things forever, but it will hold them back when you need to do things normally or simply require a break.

Stan: This rune helps to ground you in the moment, so that no matter what’s in the big picture, you will still have focus and time for what is right in front of you.  Additionally, by centering you and strengthening your foundations this rune will help maintain your overall strength and confidence in your ability to outlast whatever is wrong.

Othala: This rune pushes you to continue acting like yourself, in spite of any issues.  It tells you just exactly what you are capable of and reminds you that not everything is something  that you need to deal with.  Othala draws clear lines between what is yours to do now and what is not, making it easier to shed unnecessary burdens and concentrate on functioning.  Moreover, its lines create a secure space for you to work from, separating external energies or problems from piling onto your work and empowering you to take care of yourself and your things first.

Isa: This rune helps to stem the tide of a crisis by freezing peripheral, unneeded fears and problems that arise from it for you, leaving you free to delve down into the deepest places and deal with the core of the issue first.  In the moment, it helps you to step away from deep feelings and tend to immediate issues  for a time.

Tyr: This rune helps to keep you moving through life, to keep walking down your path even when you feel like there’s not one there or you’re not sure you can walk anymore.  This rune pushes you to continue to tend to the normal functions of life that need attention and reminds you that there will be a time later when you’ll want to find yourself upright so it’s good to remember how that feels every so often, even if you can’t stay up all the time.

Wunjo: Wunjo helps to herd sensations, allowing us to swing into joy for a little bit even when we’re overwhelmed with misery.  In this bindrune she helps us live normally for a moment by giving us back our full range of emotion rather than staying trapped in overriding ones we haven’t gotten through yet.

Laguz: The water rune helps our minds and energies flow forward, to the present task that needs doing, and to the future where things must have been done.  In order to function properly we need a decent amount of focus and thought to be untangled from deeper issues and clear for positive use.  Laguz sends us those energies when we need them and allows us to rejuvenate and rest in those newer present and forward-looking thoughts, so long as we don’t try to use those energies to avoid ever going back into deeper problems that need dealing with.

I hope this is helpful during the turbulent times of Saturn in Retrograde.

Fehu poem

“A Bit Gained”

A little bit higher is a bit of hill gained,

If you know what you have, you’ll know when you’ve more.

All can mend together whole, even broke or sprained.

To build around limbs hale or fortunes sore

Leads into peace, prosperity, fair flowers when it’s rained.

Even one coin can pay when found hard to bite.

Empty ground can yield up gold if tested with might.

You can see so many things with just the smallest light.

Many dark thoughts disappear on meeting a kind sight.

Even bent and thorny roads, with Fehu, can turn right.

Add a little, end some pain, win a little, find your struggle waned-

A little help from Fehu is a precious gift you’ve gained.

Perthro poem

To today’s Perthro rune, and all its splendor.

“Arms Open”

Arms open wide with mystic Perthro,

Something new arrives upon the Fates’ throw,

I welcome the maid, the lady, and crone.

Wrap me in threads from destiny’s throne.

When the stars mix, all my life feels the stir.

The ripple swings out-it’s the quietest spur.

When the nights blend, I heed the crow,

And open my arms to powerful Perthro.

Uraz poem

To Uraz the bull rune, with my thanks for this day.

“Autumn Charge”

Leaves show their edges when they fall,

Serrated sides cut-at speed or crawl.

When it’s time, trunks shed their weight.

To hold on past use is keeping too late.

With horns, with strength, with will,

Uraz the bull cuts out the too still.

So many things drag-on every plane,

A fierce charge is needed to push us to gain.

To sever with skill and make the cleave clean,

Ride the bull through-the other side is green.
